SAS Institute launches global certification programme for software developers
SAS Institute, the market leader in information delivery software, has announced the European SAS Institute Certified Developer Programme, part of the Institutes new global certification programme that enables SAS software developers to obtain industry-recognised qualifications. The programme has been developed in response to industry demands for assessment tools for software developers and will help companies to improve the training paths for their employees. "Throughout the IT industry, certification provides an important assessment tool for companies and individuals alike" said Stephanie Penning, training manager for SAS Institute in the UK. "The European SAS Institute Certified Professional Programme will set the industry standard for SAS software knowledge by providing the industry-recognised qualifications our customers need to advance both personally and professionally." Richard Marshall, analyst programmer at London and Edinburgh Insurance, a wholly owned subsidiary of Norwich Union endorsed this view saying "Certification as a recognised and valued qualification will enhance the reputation of SAS Institute, its customers and their employees." To obtain certification, candidates must pass examinations that assess their knowledge in core areas of SAS software programming, including data management, business intelligence reporting, and application development. Candidates can prepare for the examinations through self-study, on the job experience and through attending SAS Institute training courses, including an intensive Master Class lasting around 8 weeks. The first certification examinations in the United Kingdom will be offered on 3-4 June and in Europe on 14-15 June in The Hague, Netherlands, prior to SEUGI, SAS Institutes European User Group Conference.
